| Arab Maghreb Union Foreign Affairs Commission meets in Tripoli |

28 December 2009 Source : PANA The commission of the Council of Foreign ministers from the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA) met on Monday in Tripoli to prepare for the 29th session of the council planned for Tuesday in the Libyan capital.
The meeting reviewed the report of the UMA secretary-general, Habib Ben Yahia, on activities of the organization held in the course of the year and worked out the sub-regional integration process.
The commission, which discussed the mechanisms to set up the Maghrebi investment and foreign trade Bank, also mentioned the reopening of UMA institutions such as the Consultative Council (Choura), the Maghrebi judicial, academic authorities and university in a bid to strengthen complementarity between the member countries.
The preparatory meetings for the 29th session of the Foreign Affairs ministers from UMA countries were preceded by a session held by experts which looked into the issues of the Maghrebi economic area.
Set up in February 1989 in Marrakesh, Morocco, the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA) brings together Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia with the purpose to build a common political vision and an economic area.
